AC Milan exploring 3-name coaching list to replace Conceicao

AC Milan and Sergio Conceicao will part ways at the end of the season. The Rossoneri are already in search of their new coach.
There are still several matches left until the end of the season, but, barring miracles, AC Milan will fail to achieve the minimum seasonal objective, namely qualifying for the next Champions League edition. Thursday’s loss in the recovery match against Bologna has significantly reduced the Rossoneri’s chances of finishing in the top four. And without a Champions League placement, Sergio Conceicao will hardly be confirmed on the bench of the Red and Blacks for next year so the management has already started to think about who could take his place very soon.
The appointment of the new coach is choice that this time absolutely cannot be made the wrong way considering that Fonseca, and soon Conceicao as well, lasted for six months in charge. Gazzetta dello Sport reports that AC Milan have a three-names list to succeed Conceicao and Cesc Fabregas is leading the pack. The Spanish coach is doing great things at the helm of Como since November 2023. Como is certainly one of the great surprises of this Serie A this season and has a recognizable and entertaining game, enjoyable but also effective.
The Spaniard, who has a glorious past as a footballer to his CV, is currently the favorite for the job and AC Milan would like to try to get ahead of the competition, taking advantage of the fact that they can already move now given that they will almost certainly change coach again at the end of this season.
Of course Cesc Fabregas is not the only name on the list of the Red and Black club. An alternative candidate for the job is Maurizio Sarri, already linked to the Rossoneri last summer and then again after the dismissal of Fonseca. The former Napoli, Juventus and Lazio coach, who is currently without a team, is a guarantee of good play. He was already offered the job after Fonseca’s sacking but rejected because he didn’t want to accept a short six-months contract like Conceicao did.
Another similar profile to Sarri is Roberto De Zerbi. The Italian coach is a former player of AC Milan and has already done an excellent job in Serie A with Sassuolo and in recent seasons he has gained experience abroad. A short lived adventure in Ukraine at Shakthar Donetsk was followed by the Premier League at Brighton and now in France on the bench of Marseille. De Zerbi is on the radar of several important European clubs with his good work in recent years not going unnoticed.
