After seven consecutive positive results in Serie A, AC Milan aim to continue their impressive run against Empoli. Once again Piatek leads the attack.
The 3-1 victory against Atalanta ha given confidence and serenity to Milan. The Rossoneri are currently in fourth spot in the Serie A standings just one point in front of Roma. Today’s home match against Empoli is a very good opportunity for Gattuso’s side to continue their unbeaten run in Serie A. However it’s not a challenge that should be underestimated as demonstrated by the fact that AC Milan dropped points against Empoli (1-1) in the revers fixture.
Considering the upcoming Coppa Italia semi-final match against Lazio, coach Gattuso could decide to rest some of his stars for Empoli. The presence of Gianluigi Donnarumma between the posts is never in doubt. In defence there is going to be only one change. Finally Andrea Conti is expected to make his debut from the first minute. After two excellent performances against Sampdoria and Genoa it’s time for the right-back to play from the start. Musacchio, Romagnoli, and Ricardo Rodriguez complete the department. Davide Calabria will be rested for Lazio.
In midfield Gattuso should not change anything according to Sky Sport, mainly due to the absence of quality alternatives. Lucas Biglia is not yet ready to play from the start but we should see him make his 2019 debut in the second half. Hence the untouchables Franck Kessie, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Lucas Paqueta will once again lead the midfield.
Suso is suspended for Milan-Empoli. The Spanish winger has reached the yellow cards limit and is going to be absent. It’s up to his compatriot Samuel Castillejo to provide the spark on the right wing. Unlikely the presence of Fabio Borini. On the opposite side, Hakan Calhanoglu is in great form after the goal against Atalanta.
AC Milan-Empoli, probable lineups
At the center of the attack coach Gattuso has a very difficult task. It seems impossible for Milan at the moment to play without Krzysztof Piatek but a player like Patrick Cutrone can not stay on the bench for ever. Despite the upcoming match against Lazio coach Gennaro Gattuso has decided to start with Krzysztof Piatek once again.
AC MILAN (4-3-3): Donnarumma; Conti, Musacchio, Romagnoli, Rodriguez; Kessie, Bakayoko, Paqueta; Castillejo, Piatek (Cutrone), Calhanoglu.
EMPOLI (3-5-2): Dragowski; Silvestre, Dell’Orco, Veseli; Di Lorenzo, Acquah, Krunic, Bennacer, Pasqual; Farias, Caputo.
