AC Milan and Emirates are negotiating the renewal of the sponsorship agreement until 2025 but a twist is not to be excluded.
AC Milan and Emirates are discussing the renewal of the sponsorship agreement which started in 2010 and expires in 2020. La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the parties are in fact trying to understand if there is the possibility to sign a new long-term deal.
If Paolo Maldini and Zvonimir Boban were very busy during the summer with the mercato, AC Milan CEO Ivan Gazidis has a different task. The South African manager wants to increase the revenue and is working at the same time on the new San Siro project and marketing operations.
In the coming months, anything can happen, including the entry of another famous brand. According to La Gazzetta, in parallel with the dialogue with Emirates, Ivan Gazidis is also probing other brands that could replaced the Dubai-based giant.
The Rossoneri currently collects €14 million per year from the Emirates airline plus a variable portion linked to sports results (that can reach up to a total of 20 million euros). AC Milan are working to increase the fixed amount and prolong the agreement until 2025, even if Europa League exclusion complicates things.
Since Elliot took over from Yonghong Li, one of the most important objectives of the Americam fund was to increase revenues, obviously thanks to new sponsors too. If Milan aim to be more competitive on the transfer market, funds should not arrive only from the sale of players but also from marketing.
