AC Milan draw up five-man striker shortlist

Maldini Pioli

AC Milan will sign a new striker in the summer. Paolo Maldini is monitoring five players that can strengthen the attack.

2575 Days have passed since AC Milan last played in Champions League. The Rossoneri’s last appearances in Europe’s most prestigious competition was on 11 March 2014. At Vicente Calderon, in Spain, Cholo Simeone’s Atletico Madrid thrashed AC Milan 4-1, at that time coach by Clarence Seedorf.

Now, with 6 points behind Inter and 10 games until the end of the season, the Rossoneri look poised to return in Champions. AC Milan plan to make a nice impression in Champions and the management has a five-man list to strengthen the attack reports Calciomercato.

In recent hours Mario Mandzukic’s contract clause was revealed. Apparently Milan have the option to renew Mario’s contract if they qualify for Champions League and not the obligation to do so. The renewal is not automatic and AC Milan can easily brining in a new striker when the summer window opens. Maldini and Massara are monitoring five players that can partner with Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The first is Dusan Vlahovic. The Rossoneri are big admirers of the Serbian striker who has scored 12 goals in 27 Serie A matches. The Fiorentina star is a player with enormous potential, similar to Ibrahimovic who in fact is his idol. Suited to Pioli’s 4-2-3-1 formation. A more easily reachable player is Andrea Belotti. The Torino striker has just one year remaining in his contract and is available for around 25 million euros.

Further back on Maldini’s list are three young footballers playing abroad. In Netherlands the Rossoneri are keeping tabs on Myron Boadu and Donyell Malen. Both players are Mino Raiola clients. Their names have been mentioned during recent talks with Raiola about Donnarumma and Ibra’s renewal negotiations. The last name is that Odsonne Edouard. The 23-year-old French striker plays for Celtic Glasgow and has scored 20 goals this season. Like Belotti, Edouard becomes a free agent in one year.
