AC Milan have decided to sign Danish centre back Simon Kjaer on a permanent deal despite the 30-year-old joining the Rossoneri only in January.
Simon Kjaer is part of AC Milan a little more than a month but the Rossoneri have been convinced by his performances and have already decided to sign the Danish defender on a permanent transfer from Sevilla reports La Gazzetta dello Sport. Signing talented youngsters remains a priority for Milan but the transfer policy of the club now also includes the arrival of experienced players.
The management will shortly begin talks with Zlatan Ibrahimovic over a contract extension and then will contact Sevilla to announce their intentions on Kjaer. A good opportunity, among other things, also to combine experience and low-cost. Simon Kjaer arrived on loan with the right to buy from Atalanta after the Bergamo club signed back Mattia Caldara. Milan will pay €2.5 million to sign Kjaer on a permanent deal.
Soon Milan will met with Kjaer’s agents to discuss the terms of his new contract before exercising their right to buy. Considering what we’ve seen since January, the Denmark captain deserves to stay at San Siro.
Till his injury suffered against Torino, the Scandinavian centre back had played 7 games between the league and Coppa Italia. He immediately climbed the pecking order took Mateo Musacchio’s spot in the starting eleven as Alessio Romagnoli’s part at the heart of the defence.
The permanence of Simon Kjaer will mean the departure of at least one between Musacchio and Leo Duarte. The Argentine defender has one year left in his contract. Duarte arrived from Flamengo last summer but has yet to settle in. The Brazilian made 5 appearances before an ankle injury in November kept him out for months. He will probably return on the pitch in April.
