AC Milan contact €20m winger to replace Castillejo
Samuel Castillejo is expected to leave in the summer and AC Milan have set their sights in Italian winger Riccardo Orsolini to be his replacement.
AC Milan in the upcoming summer window will continue to implement the same transfer philosophy seen so far. Young talents will be acquired to support experienced players. The Rossoneri are looking both in Italy and abroad. Bologna right winger, Riccardo Orsolini, is one of the names on Maldini’s list of targets. The Italian talent has scored 6 goals and assisted 4 in 26 appearances this season.
According to La Repubblica (via MilanNews.it), AC Milan are very interested in Orsolini. The Rossoneri have been in contacts with Bologna recently to explore the possibility of signing Orsolini, whose contract with Bologna expires in June 2022. Milan plan to spend a maximum of 18-20 million euros because the Italian will be available for free in one year.
The 24-year-old winger receives a salary of 1.2 million per season at Bologna and Milan are ready to offer him a five-year contract with improved wages. Considering the difficult contract situation of the player, Bologna are willing to negotiate the sale of Orsolini. The Italy international is attracted by the possibility of joining a team that could play in Champions League next season.
One of the primary mercato goals of AC Milan in the summer is going to be the signing of right winger that can replace Samuel Castillejo. The Spaniard has failed to live up to expectations since his €22 million transfer from Villarreal in 2018. This season he has contributed to just 3 goals.
Castillejo will likely return in Spain while Alexis Saelemaekers is also at risk of losing his regular starter status. The Belgium winger is a key player for Pioli but he is not that lethal in front of the goal. Competition with a more attacking minded player like Orsolini could be positive for him.
