AC Milan are interested in Barcelona central midfielder Riqui Puig who could move in January reports Spanish newspaper Sport.
Something unexpected can happened in the last days of the January window. AC Milan are working to bring a new centre back to reinforce themselves in defense after the injury of Fikayo Tomori but a fresh face could arrive in midfield.
With Kessie and Bennacer playing in the African Cup, the Rossoneri are considering the opportunities that the market is offering. Bakayoko and Krunic are not a functional duo as proven on several occasions. Stefano Pioli would gladly welcome a new central midfielder and Barcelona talent Riqui Puig could be available.
According to reports from Spain, AC Milan are monitoring the situation of the 22-year-old midfielder with great interest. With only two league appearances from the first minute so far, Puig is considering leaving to play regular football elsewhere.
Under new coach Xavi, Riqui Puig is finding himself in a similar situation like with Koeman. The Spaniard has fallen down the pecking order with Xavi relying more on Gavi and Nico. The 22-year-old has made 12 appearances so far and Barcelona are also open to let him go in January.
Spanish newspaper Sport (via MilanLive.it) reports that AC Milan could be a tempting option for Puig. Spanish clubs like Betis, Getafe and Granada are also interested in his services. In addition to Inter and Napoli, Arsenal are reportedly in the race in case they don’t land Arthur from Juventus.
