AC Milan are looking to sign a new right winger in January. The Rossoneri are reportedly considering a move for Arsenal’s most expensive singing ever.
In recent years Lille has become one of the most expensive shops in the transfer market. Napoli spent a club-record transfer fee last year splashing 71.2 million euros to purchase Victor Osimhen. Lille’s next important player to leave could be Renato Sanches, a top transfer target of AC Milan.
However, the most expensive player ever of Lille remains Nicolas Pepe. The 26-year-old flamboyant right winger of Ivorian origins joined Arsenal in 2019 for a record shattering figure of 80 million euros. In his first season with the Gunners, Pepe scored 8 goals and provided 10 assists.
Nicolas Pepe did better the following year scoring a total of 16 goals. However, Pepe currently finds himself on the outside looking in under Mikel Arteta and with Arsenal implementing a 4-4-2 formation opportunities are becoming more scarce. A lack of consistency has plagued his time in north London.
The 26-year-old has been playing little and the chances of a premature departure in January are very high. At the same time AC Milan are looking for a new right winger. Arsenal are reportedly willing to part ways with Pepe if they receive an offer of 30 million euros according to MilanLive.it.
The Rossoneri are always interested in obviously talented players that hadn’t had a chance to shine at their clubs. Players in similar situations, such as Brahim Diaz, Fikayo Tomori or Theo Hernandez, were offered the chance to showcase their talent at San Siro. An initial loan move with the option to make the transfer permanent would be the ideal solution for Milan. At AC Milan, Pepe would have the chance to reteam with his former colleague Rafael Leao.
