AC Milan have closed the signing of Valencia midfielder Yunus Musah. The midfielder will undergo medical tests next week.
The AC Milan management have succeeded in brining enthusiasm back to the club following the unexpected sale of Sandro Tonali and injecting more confidence in the fans. So far Furlani and Moncada have been tireless on the transfer market brining seven players. The eighth signing will take place next week because an agreement has been reached for Yunus Musah.
After more than one month of difficult negotiations, AC Milan have finally closed the purchase of Yunus Musah from Valencia. The Rossoneri will spend a fee of €20 million for the talented American midfielder who also possesses an Italian passport. The 20-year-old USA international has spent several years n Italy and knows perfectly the language so hopefully his period of adaption will be very short.
Musah will sign a five-year contract of around €2 million per season. The central midfielder has played a key role in the successful negotiations between the two clubs by pushing to join AC Milan. Musah had also important offers from Premier League clubs but he only wanted the Rossoneri.
Former AC Milan coach Gennaro Gattuso, who had Musah under his orders at Valencia, has described the American midfielder as a very similar player to Kessie but one that needs time and patience to reach Franck’s level. A typical number 8 who has the strength and tactical intelligence to cover a lot of ground.
It is perhaps no coincidence that Musah’s best form who seen during Gattuso’s tenure at Valencia. The 20-year-old later excelled in the World Cup as well. He was deployed as the deepest-lying midfielder in the USA national team where he showcased commanding performances rare from a player who hasn’t turned 21 yet.
He controlled the game from the base of midfield, leading the press and playing in a more central area of the field. On paper, Musah is the back-up for Ruben Loftus-Cheek. However, it looks like Yunus Musah has the abilities and potential to replace the England international in Pioli’s squad with time.
