AC Milan complete 6 transfers in a short time
There are still plenty of days until the end of the January transfer window but AC Milan have already completed six transfers besides Ibrahimovic.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic was AC Milan’s first January signing. The Swedish centre forward arrived at San Siro on a free transfer after two months of negotiations but he has immediately repaid the management’s patience with a match winning performance against Cagliari.
Talks about Ibrahimovic were very long but, after securing the services of the 38-year-old striker, AC Milan have been frenetic on the transfer market completing a surprising number of transfer in a very short period of time.
DEPARTURES
MATTIA CALDARA – Regarding the departures, the first to leave AC Milan was Mattia Caldara. Caldara joins Atalanta on loan for 18-months and the Bergamo club have the right to make the move permanent for a fee of just €15 million. A financially very bad deal for the Rossoneri who invested €35 million a year and a half ago to purchase the Italian defender from Juventus.

PEPE REINA – The Rossoneri announced earlier that Pepe Reina will return to England. The Spanish goalkeeper joins Aston Villa on a 6-month loan until the end of the current season. Aston Villa don’t have any option to buy Reina and he will return at Milan in the summer.
FABIO BORINI – Fabio Borini was the first AC Milan player to leave. The 28-year-old winger moves to Hellas Verona on a free transfer. His contract with AC Milan expired at the end of the season but the club decided to end their relationship earlier. Borini had only two appearances this season.
SIGNINGS
SIMON KJAER – “Playing for AC Milan is a dream for me. I’m at a historic club which has boasted some of the best centre-backs in the world. I’ve always been inspired by Maldini, I dreamed of AC Milan for so many years and now I’m finally here”, said Simon Kjaer after joining Milan. The Denmark captain will be Caldara’s replacement and Milan have an option to sign him on a permanent deal at the end of the season for 2.5 million euros.
ASMIR BEGOVIC – Initially the club had no intentions to move on the market in the goalkeeper role but Pepe Reina’s request to leave changed the scenario. The Rossoneri have signed Asmir Begovic on loan for the remaining of the season to replace Pepe Reina. With Donnarumma currently injured, Begovic could immediately make his Milan debut against Spal.
IVAN QUARESMA – As if Begovic wasn’t enough, AC Milan have completed the signing of another goalkeeper that will join the squad in the summer. Brazilian U-23 international Ivan Quaresma Da Silva has been signed from Ponte Preta. It will interesting to see if Ivan Quaresma will be next season’s second goalkeeper or more.
