The January transfer window has just closed with AC Milan quite busy during this session completing a total of 11 transfers under the orchestration of Paolo Maldini and Zvonimir Boban. The management had to move on the market without spending more than what they earned from sales. Let’s go into detail.
IBRAHIMOVIC – Arriving in the last days of December, Zlatan returned to the Rossoneri on a free transfer after his contract with Los Angeles Galaxy expired. The Swedish striker has signed a 6-month contract with the possibility of a one-year extension until June 2021.
BEGOVIC – The experienced Bosnian goalkeeper arrives on loan from Bournemouth until June to replace Pepe Reina. The Rossoneri don’t have an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.
REINA – The former Napoli goalkeeper asked to go away in order to play more and was therefore loaned to Aston Villa for the remaining of the season. He will return to Milanello at the end of the season.
KJAER – The Danish central defender was signed from Sevilla with the formula of a six-month loan with the right to buy for 2.5 million euros. Simon Kjaer is the replacement of Mattia Caldara.
CALDARA – After two tormented years at San Siro, Mattia Caldara’s desire was to be able to return to play at high levels with continuity. The central defender was grated his wish to return at Atalanta on an 18-month loan with the right to buy set at €15 million.

RICARDO RODRIGUEZ – The explosion of Theo Hernandez saw Rodriguez being dropped from the starting eleven hence the player asked to leave and play more elsewhere. The Swiss defender transferred to PSV on loan with the obligation to buy for a total figure of €6 million.
LAXALT – Antone Robinson was supposed to become Theo Hernandez’s back-up. He was in Italy and underwent medicals but then Milan and Wigan surprisingly announced they had failed to reach an agreement. Thus Milan decided to recall Diego Laxalt from his loan at Torino.
SAELEMAEKERS – He is the replacement for Suso. The 20-year-old Belgian right midfielder was scouted by the Rossoneri for more than a year. Alexis Saelemaekers arrives at AC Milan from Anderlecht on loan with the obligation to buy for a total fee of 8 million euros.
