AC Milan will appoint Davide Calabria as the new captain while Theo Hernandez will serve as the vice-captain.
The 2021/22 season is officially over for the Italian players after the last match against Germany. It was a special season for Davide Calabria who made 33 appearances with AC Milan and 5 with the Italian national team. The 25-year-old right back played a key part in AC Milan’s Scudetto triumph while wearing the captain armband for the majority of the year.
Officially, Alessio Romagnoli was AC Milan’s captain throughout the season. However, Alessio eventually lost his starting spot with coach Stefano Pioli preferring more Kalulu to play alongside Tomori. Calabria proudly wore the armband and he will continue to do so even in the future.
Davide Calabria will officially be named AC Milan captain for next season with Romagnoli set to join another club. A meteoric rise that of the Italian right back who made his debut with the Red and Blacks in 2015. Calabria became a regular starter under Gennaro Gattuso and has never looked back ever since.
With Davide Calabria promoted to full time captain it will be Theo Hernandez to take the vice-captain role. Theo served as AC Milan’s captain for a couple of matches in January when neither Calabria or Romagnoli was playing. The French left back managed to revive his career at the Rossoneri after a difficult spell at Real Madrid.
Theo Hernandez has been one of AC Milan’s best players since his arrival. A protagonist of the Scudetto win with 5 goals and 10 assists across all competitions, Theo is a true leader of Pioli’s squad.
