AC Milan prioritize Benfica midfielder

AC Milan have revamped their interest in Benfica defensive midfielder Florentino Luis according to reports from Portugal.

After the unsuccessful attempt in January, AC Milan are preparing for a new assault on Benfica midfielder Florentino Luis. Portuguese newspaper A Bola reports that the Rossoneri still have a very strong interest in the young midfielder and he’s a priority in their list of targets.

The newspaper recalled the January talks: Paolo Maldini, Boban and Massara tried to get Florentino on loan with the right to make the transfer permanent at the end of the season. The deal was at an advanced stage but the Benfica coach opposed the transfer of the 20-year-old defensive midfielder.

Now negotiations have reopen. Florentino Luis continues to be a transfer target of AC Milan. The Rossoreni will make a revamped attempt for Florentino but only after Ivan Gazidis closes the appointment of the new coach and resolves the future of Paolo Maldini.

Florentino Luis has a release clause of 120 million euros but Benfica are willing to sell him for around €30 million. The Portuguese club are big admirer of Lucas Paqueta and the name of the Brazilian talented was mentioned in their talks in January.

The young defensive midfielder is considered one of the brightest talents in Europe. He made 15 appearances with Benfica this season but has been out of the squad since December after clashing with the club.
