AC Milan are closing the sale of highly rated midfielder Tommaso Pobega to Atalanta reports Gianluca Di Marzio.
After a fine year on loan at Spezia, many had hopped that Tommaso Pobega would be given a chance at AC Milan this season. The 21-year-old central midfielder was one of Spezia’s best players scoring 6 goals and assisting 3 in 20 appearances.
Coach Stefano Pioli was supposed to examine Pobega carefully during pre-season and decided whether he would stay or join another club on loan. Nevertheless, the management has decided in advance to sell Tommaso Pobega to Atalanta.
The Rossoneri believe that the Italian is a perfect player for a three-man midfield but unfortunately Poli requires only two in his standard 4-2-3-1 formation.
Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports that AC Milan are in advanced negotiations with Atalanta to close the transfer of Tommaso Pobega for around €12 million. Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini is a big admirer of the Italy U-21 midfielder and has asked the Bergamo club to acquire his services.
It is not yet clear if AC Milan will have a buy back option. That last player the Rossoneri sold to Atalanta was Matteo Pessina (for €1.8 million). Now the Italy international is rated at around €30 million and is doing great at EURO 2020. Milan own 50% of his future resale but they loose this option when the player makes his 100-th appearance with Atalanta.
