AC Milan will not take any risks with Maignan’s recovery. The Rossoneri have decided to sign a new goalkeeper.
A bolt from the blue was the news of Mike Maignan’s injury. With an official statement the Rossoneri confirmed that that the 26-year-old French goalkeeper is facing a problem on his left wrist and is forced to undergo surgery tomorrow.
Maignan should stay out at least two weeks but AC Milan fear the recovery time may be much more. In the best case scenario Maignan will miss the upcoming matches against Verona, Porto, Bologna and Torino. The headache becomes even bigger considering that AC Milan third goalkeeper Alessandro Plizzari is also injured and should stay out for a long time.
That leaves Stefano Pioli with only Ciprian Tatarusanu the only only available goalkeeper under his orders. That’s why AC Milan have started to search for a new goalkeeper immediately after learning of Maignan’s injury. Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports that AC Milan are considering signing Antonio Mirante.
The Rossoneri are in continuous contacts with Mirante and a deal is expected to be closed quickly reports Di Marzio. After failed talks last summer, Antonio Mirante is set to join AC Milan with a contract until the end of the season with an option for another year.
The former Roma goalkeeper is a free agent so the Rossoneri can register him immediately in their squad. The management has decided not to take risks on Maignan’s recover and bring immediately an experienced goalkeeper like Mirante to partner with Tatarusanu.
