AC Milan are looking to sell eleven players this summer. Some will leave Milan for financial reasons while others for tactical motives.
MILAN NEWS – There are eleven players that AC Milan could sell this summer reports La Gazzetta dello Sport. Obviously not all at once. So far the Rossoneri have been concentrated on arrivals with the club having spent around €80 million for five new signings.
Rafael Leao, Rade Krunic, Isamel Bennacer, Theo Hernandez and Leo Duarte have joined Marco Giampolo’s side while striker Patrick Cutrone is the only major departure until now.
The situation is clear, AC Milan must work hard in the reaming two weeks of the summer transfer window to sell some players. The Rossoneri need fresh money to balance their books and avoid getting in trouble again with UEFA but also to finance other signings.
According to Chief Football Official Zvonimir Boban, every player can be sold for the right price. For financial reasons, for tactical reasons, or maybe because in that role the squad is already super covered, some player will certainly leave this summer. Starting form the defence.

DEFENCE – On goal the situation is clear, Donnarumma leaves only if PSG make an ‘indecent’ offer of more than 60 million. If he leaves, his brother Antonio will follow him. The primary issue to solve in defence is the overcrowded position on the left with Theo Hernandez, Ricardo Rodriguez, Diego Laxalt and Ivan Strinic fighting for a single role. AC Milan can not afford to have four fullbacks so the Rossoneri are trying to sell two.
Despite his injury there is no doubt that Theo Hernandez with be the first choice on the left. The Rossoneri invested 20 million for his signing and the Spanish left-back fits perfectly into Giampaolo’s football ideas.
Currently Diego Laxalt is the player AC Milan are desperate to sell. Parma and Spal expressed interest in his services and Milan have put him on the market for 12-13 million. Te Uruguay international has reportedly rejected both options as he hopes to join former coach Gasperini at Atalanta.
AC Milan would also love to sell also Ricardo Rodriguez. If he remains it will be his third year at San Siro but the Swiss left-back is considering his options since the arrival of Theo. Schalke 04 have recently inquired about his availability receiving a positive reply from Milan that Rodriguez is free to leave for 20 million.
Another problem is the situation of Andrea Conti. The Italian right back has finally recovered after two devastating injuries on the knee and wants to regain his Atalanta form but it’s not going to be easy. Davide Calabria is the regular starter on the right and it’s going to be so even under Giampaolo. Milan would prefer to loan Conti to another Serie A club like Parma in order to gain more minutes but the player wants to stay.

MIDFIELD – Empoli duo Bennacer and Krunic have joined AC Milan’s midfield this summer. Rade Krunic is a typical box-to-box midfielder that would challenge Kessie while the best player in Africa’s Cup of Nations should be first choice in front of the defence.
Bennacer has just recently joined the rest of the squad and in the all the friendly matches it was Lucas Biglia who started as defensive midfielder in Giampaolo’s 4-3-1-2 lineup. He has received compliments from the new AC Milan coach but his salary of 3,5 million per season is a big burden for the club. The Argentine 33-year-old remains on the market but lacks offers.
AC Milan hoped to monetize from the sale of Franck Kessie to England. The Rossoneri were very close to reaching an agreement with Wolverhampton for around 30 million but the player rejected the Wolves.
He would have brought considerable funds to be reinvested in new signings but now Milan must look for other alternatives. Kessie remains on the market but with the summer transfer window closed in England there aren’t many admirers around.
Calhanoglu is another candidate that may leave this season. Hakan, Lucas Paqueta and Bonaventura all play as inside-left in midfield so one could leave. Despite being a ductile player Calhanoglu has been inconsistent in his two years at San Siro. Red Bull Leipzig remain interested despite of the player’s desire to stay at Milan.

ATTACK – It seems like Argentine striker Angel Correa will join AC Milan no matter the arguable transfer fee. Maldni and Boban are in love with him and want the 24-year-old to become a future leader of the Rossoneri.
Now that Atletico Madrid have completed the signing of Rodrigo from Valencia, Correa is free to join the Rososneri. The Spanish club continue to insist on their 55 million asking price while Milan remain firm on their initial offer of 45 million, bonuses included. Despite the 10 million distance, a deal is just a matter of time.
However, AC Milan need to make an important sale in order to finance a move. Andre Silva is the player that Milan are desperately trying to offload this summer. His failed move to Monaco was costly for Milan. Espanyol have expressed interest in the Portuguese striker while his agent, Jorge Mendes, is trying to sell him to Valencia to replace Rodrigo.
Samu Castillejo is another player not part of Marco Giampaolo’s project. Villarreal would love to bring him back to Spain but would prefer a loan move while AC Milan pretend 20 million for the right winger and will green-light his transfer only on a permanent deal.
Finally, but certainly not the last, Suso. Coach Giampaolo would like to keep him at San Siro at all costs while AC Milan have placed Suso at the very top positions on the list of expendable players, always due to the necessity to make a considerable capital gain. However, if Milan manage to sell Silva then Suso will likely be taken off the market.
