AC Milan 0-2 Roma, player ratings
The rossoneri suffer the second consecutive defeat in Serie A, 0-2 against Roma. A good overall performance from Milan but one that should have been exploited better.
Donnarumma 6.5: Nothing he could do on Dzeko’s goal, with a lethal deviation from Romagnoli. Saved a fantastic one on one occasion and was solid as usual
Musacchio 5.5: He needs to improve his passing quickly. Leaves too much space to Dzeko to shot and score the first goal but handled El Shaarawy well .
Bonucci 6: An improvement compared to the recent performance from the rossoneri captain this evening. Neutralized Dzeko throughout the game.
Romagnoli 5: Unlucky in deviating Dzeko’s shot but maybe he could have intervened sooner on the Bosnian. He suffers from Florenzi, who escapes his marking several times.
Borini 6,5: One of the best among the rossoneri. In defense he never makes an error on El Shaarawy, literally canceled from former Sunderland. In the offensive area he is always there to help his teammates. The fans approve his performance and applaud when he is substituted.
Rodriguez 7: Perhaps the best on the field today. Puts several crosses in the area without however finding his teammates ready take advantage of. He is to blame for Florenzi’s for not following the opponent well after the rebound.
Kessié 5.5: Ups and downs for the Ivorian midfielder, who can not keep a stable intensity. He must be more accurate when approaching the opposing area. Very good on defensive tasks.
Biglia 5: In the construction phase much more is expected from the 31 year old Argentine, who does not always lead the team. He should raise the rhythm, but he plays too tight at times.
Calhanoglu 4: Egoistic and very arrogant. An awful performance from the Turkish midfielder, who gives the impression that with his qualities he is able to hurt Roma, but in reality he never succeeds. An unnecessary and naive foul while the team was down 2-0 costs him a second yellow. Under the eyes of Montella, the player had more than 10 minutes of physical limitation but the substitution did not arrive.
André Silva 7: Great game from the young Portuguese striker, who moves well especially outside the area to help his teammates. He had no opportunities to score, because he was never served well. But his test is encouraging, the qualities are there. A goal was the only thing he was missing today. Finally Andre Silva is starting to perform even in Serie A.
Kalinic 5: Close to scoring a goal on one occasion, but in the end you see very little of him. Surely he is not well served, but he has to make his presence felt more.
Montella 5.5: The team reacted after the awful performance against Sampdoria and many positive aspects can be found today. However it was not enough to bring out the best from a group that needs to evolve more. After the physical decline of several players and the good momentum the team was experiencing, Montella should have interfered with some substitutions and especially a creative player like Suso was much needed on the field in the second half. The experiment with Borini has paid off but the coach needs to be more courageous.
