In a sold-out San Siro and under the watchful gaze of several Rossoneri legends and VIPs from the show business, AC Milan could not hold to Juve’s attack and lost to the visitors 0-2 at San Siro.
The Red and Blacks started strong and had offensive initiative keeping the pressure high up the pitch, but once again, they lacked the final killer pass. Champions League qualification, after today’s match, seems like an illusion. Milan is clearly not a big team, at least (hopefully) for now.
Donnarumma 5,5: He can’t be blamed for the two goals of Higuain but he certainly could have done something more especially in the second goal.
Zapata 6: The decision to trust him and not Musacchio is controversial and the Colombian fails to impress. He plays s simple game and is unlucky in the first goal conceded. Better alternatives are required if Milan really aim the Champions and clearly Zapata is not a reliable one. Despite the fact that the Colombian is the last to quit, Montella should rely more on more promising players.
Romagnoli 5,5: Good in several moments in defensive in the first half but Higuain’s goals are on his conscience. Alessio has all the potential to become a world class centre back but more concentration and help from his teammates is needed.
Rodriguez 5: Plays more as solidly left-back than central defender. The most dangerous chance for the rossoneri, in the first half, comes from a cross of his with Kalinic hitting the crossbar.
Abate 4: Bad in both phases. Montella is right to rarely trust him so far but it’s strange why he changed opinion on this occasion. He is nonexistent in defense and even worst in attack.
Borini 6: The usual generous game on the left wing. Nothing important if the team doesn’t achieving results.
Kessie 5: His usual offensive intrusions were deeply missed today, the tank fails to ignite. Coarse errors in construction, nearly in the same style when he gifted Birsa’s goal in Chievo vs Milan.
Biglia 4: He is too far away from Dybala on the bianconeri’s 1-0, with the Argentine striker is free to accurately serve his fellow countryman Higuain. Lazio’s Biglia is just a mirage.
Calhanoglu 5: Good pressing on the wing in the first 25 minutes but then he disappears. He fails to give quality to the maneuver. Still too slow in movements and play.
Suso 5: He is caged by Juventus defenders. Chiellini, Asamoah and Khedira choke the Spaniard every time he has the ball on his feet. Only when the rossoneri’s play works (on only one occasion to be honest) Suso had space to dribble on one against one.
Kalinic 5: If he had more luck, more aggressivity, and who knows what else, Milan could have scored at least 2 goals. He inexplicably hits the bar on Buffon’s miraculous exit in the last minutes of the first half. The Croatian is committed but gives the impression that he is not able to hurt the opponents. Errors like his in games like this cost a lot and Milan lose for the fifth time in 11 matches.
