AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli confirms the absence of Ibrahimovic, Giroud and Calabria for the upcoming match against Juventus.
On Sunday evening AC Milan travel to Torino to face Juventus. A very important clash for both squads despite being so early at the 4th week of Serie A. AC Milan are currently leading the league with 9 points while Juventus are still in search of their first win.
For Juventus vs Milan, coach Stefano Pioli will be without several key players that are facing injuries. The absence of Zlatan Ibrahimovic was expected as well as that of Tiemoue Bakayoko (out for around one month). However, Olivier Giroud and Davide Calabria have joined the long list of absences.
“Ibrahimovic would like to be Superman but he still can’t play. He hasn’t had great improvements so far. Zlatan will not be tomorrow just as there will be no Olivier Giroud. The French striker had a low back pain after the Liverpool match“, said Stefani Pioli in today’s press conference.
The situation in attack is disturbing for the Rossoneri who will be without their two centre forwards. With Ibrahimovic and Giroud out, the only good news for Stefano Pioli is the return of Pietro Pellegri. The young Italian striker has fully recovered and could make his AC Milan debut in Torino against Juventus.
At the moment there are seven AC Milan players who are injured. Besides Ibrahimovic, Giroud, Calabria and Bakayoko there are also Andrea Conti, Rade Krunic and Junior Messias. New arrival Messias could miss a couple of matches until he gains full fitness. A difficult situation at Casa Milan so early in the season.
