AC Milan continue to play as a team but miss chances in key moments. However it was a performance with many positive things despite the disappointing end result.
PROOF OF HONOUR
Even coach Allegri admitted it, the match against AC Milan has been one of the most difficult ones of the season for Juventus. Yet, it’s not enough for Rino Gattuso. It was a brave performance and the boys played as a team. However, the mistakes made in Turin are not just any mistakes; they were decisive and made the difference. The team must find the way to eliminate these errors.
BONUCCI, ALMOST A PERFECT PERFORMANCE
Juventus had not conceded a single goal in 2018. Zero. Until that moment when Leonardo Bonucci jumped between Barzagli and Chiellini to beat Buffon with a header. He not only silenced the stadium, his goal hurt them. Then, as in London, stopping the Bianconeri from breaking a new clean sheet record is just a little consolation. Even if Bonucci and Gattuso could only taste the bitterness of the final result.
THE FIRST AND THE SECOND HALF
The Rossoneri’s reaction to Juventus’ early goal was very important. It showed courage and character. Then, the captain, the centre-back equalised after André Silva had missed a clear opportunity from point-blank range. Nonetheless, none of the Red and Black forwards managed to threaten the opposition. Instead, Suso, Calhanoglu and Bonaventura did go close. AC Milan must certainly improve on this aspect.
FROM DECEMBER UNTIL TODAY
The Rossoneri were unbeaten since 23rd December. We are talking about 2017, the period when training sessions were intensified. The defeat against Atalanta gave the boys a great lesson, it stimulated a strong reaction and they bounced back in the Milan derby in Coppa Italia. The team should react the same way now, and work as hard as they can during the Easter holidays at Milanello.
THE PREVIOUS MATCHES AWAY TO JUVE
Since October 2011, AC Milan have lost every single time at the Allianz Stadium in Serie A. This last performance has been the bravest one. The Rossoneri never stepped back and didn’t need miracles from Donnarumma to hold a provisional 1-1 score until the 94’, as it happened last season. The next match will be crucial and a great reaction from everyone is needed, from the goalkeeper to the fans, from the team’s confidence to the striker’s desire and determination.
