AC Milan will face Sassuolo at San Siro in the last match of 2023. Both clubs are going through a difficult period.

Serie A is coming to an end for this year. In the last round 0f 2023 AC Milan will host Sassuolo at San Siro. It has been a disappointing season so far for both squads. Milan are not able to compete for the Scudetto while Sassuolo are close to the relegation zone. Milan vs Sassuolo has always been a match of many goals but the Neroverdi are a traditionally difficult opponent for the Rossoneri to face.

Once again Stefano Pioli is forced to make adjustments to the defence due to the injury crises and the lack of alternatives at the heart of the back four. Theo Hernandez will play at the center alongside Simon Kjaer. Youngster Jan-Carlo Simic is the only other available centre back. Davide Calabria and Alessandro Florenzi complete the defensive department.

The good news is that Pioli will have at his disposal for AC Milan vs Sassuolo the regular starters in midfield and attack. Ismael Bennacer will direct the game form the first minute leaving space for Tijjani Reijnders to act as mezzala. Ruben Loftus-Cheek will be the third midfielder. The former Chelsea is not yet at his 100% with minor injuries continuing to cause a headache.

AC Milan are in desperate need for goals and Rafael Leao hasn’t been able to provide. In fact, the Portuguese left winger has scored only one goal more than Tomori and Jovic. Milan trust him and Leao will start against Sassuolo from the first minute. Christian Pulisic will play on the right with both in support of Olivier Giroud.

AC MILAN Probable XI (4-3-3): Maignan, Calabria, Kjaer, Theo Hernandez, Florenzi, Loftus-Cheek, Bennacer, Reijnders, Pulisic, Leao, Giroud.

SASSUOLO Probable XI (4-2-3-1): Consigli, Toljan, Erlic, Ferrari, Pedersen, Thorstvedt, Henrique, Berardi, Lauriente, Castillejo, Pinamonti.
