AC Milan make their Champions League debut against Red Bull Salzburg. A difficult match that the Rossoneri need to will at all cost.
The Rossoneri make their Champions League debut tomorrow in Austria against Red Bull Salzburg. Stefano Pioli’s squad were drafted in Group E together with Chelsea and Dinamo Zagreb as well. The coach has asked his players to forget about the derby and concentrate on Salzburg vs Milan.
“Last year we thad one of the most difficult groups but we did well nonetheless. Playing certain games of this level helps you grow. The team is mature now, we have played together more minutes. This level in the Champions League is hard to find in Italy. The pace is high, it’s good to play these games”, said Pioli in the press conference.
There will be no changes in defence for Salzburg vs Milan. Fikayo Tomori and Pierre Kalulu will form the central duo with Theo Hernandez on the left and captain Davide Calabria on the right. Mike Maignan, author of an excellent performance against Inter, is tasked to protect the goal.
Again, it will be Sandro Tonali to play alongside Ismael Bennacer in midfield. The duo have started the season on the right foot and are the two undisputed starters for Stefano Pioli. The Italain coach has two big doubts up front.
The first is the name of the right winger. Junior Messias seems in advantage over Alexis Saelemaekers. Same situation in the middle with Charles De Ketelaere and Brahim Diaz battling for the attacking midfielder role. Rafael Leao will start on the left in support of Olivier Giroud.
RED BULL SALZBURG Probable XI (4-4-2): Kohn; Dedic, Solet, Wober, Ulmer; Capaldo, Seiwald, Kjaergaard; Kameri; Fernando, Okafor
AC MILAN Probable XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan, Calabria, Kalulu, Tomori, Theo Hernandez, Tonali, Bennacer, Messias, De Ketelaere, Leao, Giroud.
