Milan vs Benevento, probable lineups
Tonight, AC Milan face Filippo Inzaghi’s Benevento at 20:45 CET. Pioli wants an attacking squad to secure the three points.
After leading Serie A for a long period, AC Milan find themselves out of the top four in the most crucial moment of the season. The recent defeats against Sassuolo and Lazio have proven quite costly and the Rossoneri now risk another year out of the Champions League. That’s why a win in Milan vs Benevento is the only acceptable result.
For tonight’s match Pioli could transform the usual 4-3-2-1 in 4-2-2-2. The squad has underwhelmed in attack and Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s return couldn’t have happened any sooner.
In defence there is one bid doubt for Pioli. Captain Alessio Romangoli returned on the pitch against Lazio and will be confirmed for Milan vs Benevento. He will likely partner with Simon Kjaer at the heart of the defence reports Gazzetta with Fikayo Tomori ready on the bench. Davide Calabria and Theo Hernandez complete the back four.
Another dilemma is the partner of Franck Kessie in midfield. Ismael Bennacer doesn’t look to be on his best so Soualiho Meite could be real surprise. Nevertheless, the Algerian remains the favorite to start form the first minute. No doubts up front.
Pioli wants an attacking AC Milan against Benevento but Ante Rebic will pay the price. Once again it will be Alexis Saelemaekers to play on the right wing, with Rafael Leao on the left and Hakan Calhanoglu in the middle. The absence of Ibrahimovic in the last three games has been felt a lot so his return is a relief for Pioli and the squad. Mario Mandzukic is out of the match squad due to bronchitis.
AC MILAN (4-2-3-1): Donnarumma, Calabria, Kjaer, Romagnoli, Theo Hernandez, Bennacer (Meite), Kessie, Saelemaekers, Calhanoglu, Leao, Ibrahimovic.
BENEVENTO (4-2-3-1): Montipo, Depaoli, Glik, Caldriola, Barba, Hetemaj, Viola, Ionita, Insigne, Iago Falque, Lapadula.
